A 35-year-old fisherman stabbed in Cuyo,Palawan last week has recovered after being treated in a private hospital in Puerto Princesa City.
Renante Derder is now recuperating after being admitted and treated for serious injuries after getting stabbed last June 28, 2019.
Renante’s elder brother, Gelli Derder, 44, and also a fisherman said that his brother went to a fiesta when two unidentified suspects attacked and stabbed Renante which nearly cost his life.
The victim was rushed to a hospital in their place for immediate medication, but financial constraints prompted them to seek help from Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez.
The older Derder said that when they texted the governor through the help of the hospital’s midwife who gave the number, they received a reply via text message. “Ako na bahala, pumunta na kayo sa airport kasama ang nurse, natawagan ko na ang piloto,” Gov. Alvarez texted them.
The victim was airlifted to a private medical facility in Puerto Princesa thru the private plane owned by the governor.
The medical expenses were shouldered by the Provincial Government through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Mrs. Abigail Ablaña, a statement from the provincial government said.
As of now, the condition of the victim is stable and still on recovery from his injuries.
Gelli said that her brother Renante migrated to Palawan in 2013 to look for work and for greener pasture after Super Typhoon Yolanda devastated their place. He left his five children in Cebu.
