An injured, dehydrated and weak Pangolin was treated by the Katala Foundation, Inc. (KFI) after the proper coordination with the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS).

KFI received the said adult male “Balintong” (Manis culionensis) which was turned-over from Puerto Princesa City last June 4.

After receiving, the assigned personnel immediately hydrated the animal. Afterwards, they cleaned it and treated its injured right hind leg.

“[Pangolin’s] ectoparasites were removed, and [its] size and weight [were] assessed prior to setting it up in a large kennel where termites were offered as food. By the next morning, the Pangolin had regained strength and it’s now ready for release back to the wild,” part of KFI’s post yesterday.

Around 8:00 PM also yesterday, KFI stated that in time for World Environment Day which is annually celebrated every 5th day of June, the Pangolin, a very important part of nature, was on its way for release into a remote area of the Province of Palawan by a team composed of PCSDS and KFI.
