SAN VICENTE, PALAWAN – The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) will formally hold the inauguration of the TIEZA Tourism Enterprise Zone (TEZ) Office and the Tourist Information Center (TIC) located in Barangay New Agutaya, San Vicente, Palawan. The Municipality of San Vicente is one of TIEZA’s Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zones on October 28, 2018,
The event will also feature the formal turnover of the TIC to the Municipality of San Vicente and the unveiling of the markers for the two buildings. The Provincial Government of Palawan, the Municipal Government of San Vicente, various national government agencies (NGAs), tourism enterprise owners, and other stakeholders will be present in the event.
The inauguration of the TEZ Office and TIC is set on the same day as the maiden flight of the Philippine Airlines (PAL) from Clark International Airport in Pampanga to the San Vicente Airport in Palawan. Starting October 28, PAL will offer regular flights from Clark International Airport to San Vicente Airport. San Vicente Flagship TEZ has experienced an exponential increase in tourist arrivals since its designation, and with the implementation of this new domestic point, it is expected to generate an even greater amount of visits.
The TEZ Office and TIC broke ground in 2016, marking the start of construction. The two buildings are among the support infrastructure projects of TIEZA for the San Vicente Flagship TEZ. The TEZ Office will serve as TIEZA’s on-site office and as link between and among the Municipal Government of San Vicente, the Department of Tourism (DOT), property owners and operators of private enterprises, and other stakeholders. The TIC will be the first stop for tourists and visitors where vital information will be provided for their stay in San Vicente, such as the accessible facilities, stations, establishments, and activities within the Flagship TEZ.
Located on western shore of the northern portion of Palawan, the San Vicente Flagship TEZ is the newest eco-town in the Philippines, boasting a 14.7-kilometer long unbroken stretch of pristine beach. With the architectural design merging comfort of modern living and active engagement with Palawan’s culture and breathtaking natural beauty, the San Vicente Flagship TEZ is envisioned to be an environmentally and socially sustainable tourist destination that will be a catalyst for inclusive economic growth through public and private partnership.
To potential investors, San Vicente Flagship TEZ offers various opportunities including, but not limited to, water and power utilities, lodging and accommodation establishments, mid-tier to top tier hotels, and top tier to luxury resorts.
Fiscal and non-fiscal incentives will be enjoyed by investors such as six-year income tax holiday, 5% gross income taxation, tax and duty free importation of goods and services, capital investments and equipment, transportation equipment, lease of land to foreign nationals, employment of foreign nationals, and foreign currency transactions, among others, as provided under Republic Act No. 9593 or the Tourism Act of 2009.
Aside from the San Vicente Flagship TEZ in Palawan, TIEZA has also designated four other Flagship TEZs: Panglao Bay Premiere in Bohol, Mt. Samat Shrine of Valor in Bataan, Rizal Park Complex in Manila, and Bucas Grande in Surigao del Norte.
