The romantic comedy movie “Mia” that stars Colleen Garcia and Edgar Allan Guzman shot mostly in Brgy. Rio Tuba in the town of Bataraza is scheduled to be shown in theaters nationwide by January 15, 2020.

The movie is under the direction of award winning filmmaker Veronica Velasco, under Insight 360 Film in partnership with Viva Films, tells a story of an alcoholic Mia, who is a Doctor to the Barrio, and the nerdy forester Jay that transforms a mined out land into a rainforest, and how their world meets with a lot of conflict and romantic funny scenes.

Insight 360 Film Producer Chris Cahilig shared that they spent 8 days last March of this year in Rio Tuba filming the movie.

Most of the scenes are from Rio Tuba Nickel mine site, their rehab and reforested area, hospital, port area and some homes inside Rio Tuba village.

“It’s a romantic comedy film with a strong environmental message, and the mining site is simply a metaphor of Mia’s character, that there is hope for life and love, commitment and responsibility prevail,” Cahilig said in an exclusive interview with Palawan Daily News.

Joining Garcia and Guzman are veteran actors Yayo Aguila and William Martinez, Billy Crawford, Star Orjaliza, Jeremy Domingo, Sunshine Teodoro, Pau Benitez, Xenia Barrameda and some RTN staff.

Screenplay was co-written by Velasco and Jinky Laurel while Noel Teehankee served as its director of photography.

Director Velasco is known for her past movies such as Cinemalaya-winning Last Supper No.5, Inang Yaya of Maricel Soriano, and the recent Nuuk that starred Aga Muhlach and Alice Dixson.
