Students from top universities such as the University of the Philippines, DLSU College of St. Benilde, and Far Eastern University in Manila posted on their student government social media pages encouraging fellow students to walk out of classes due to the impending Marcos and Duterte presidency and vice presidency.

The University of the Philippines (UP) Office of the Student Regent posted “NO CLASSES UNDER A MARCOS PRESIDENCY. UP STUDENTS, WALK OUT!” on their Facebook page.

“Tapat tayong lumahok sa eleksyon. Ngunit, pandaraya at paglabag sa batas ang sagot ng administrasyon. Hindi tayo papayag na pamunuan tayo ng mga magnanakaw at mamamatay-tao.

COMELEC ACCOUNTABILITY, NO CLASSES UNDER A MARCOS PRESIDENCY. UP STUDENTS, WALK OUT!,” the post read.

Benilde Central Student Government also stated that there were anomalies in multiple precincts and the failure of COMELEC to prepare and respond to VCMs malfunctioning leading to interruption of the voting process nationwide thus pleas with the university administrators to suspend classes and other activities to be able to exercise their rights.

“It is our democratic right as Filipino people to vote in order for us to stand for our democracy and sovereignty and to fight against tyranny and corruption. However, during the commencement of the national and local elections, there were multiple anomalies in various precincts all over the country. There were reports of illegal distribution of sample ballots near the vicinity of precincts, vote-buying, multiple cases of broken vote-counting machines (VCMs), and many more electoral violations that the Commission on Elections failed to address,” stated Benilde Central Student Government.

“As one united front, the Benildean students vehemently condemn the fraudulent acts of the national government, COMELEC, and the Duterte administration! Adhering to the Lasallian Core Value of Communion and to the Benildean Expression of being Socially Responsible, we call on the administrators to allow the suspension of classes and other academic activities in order for us, the students, to re-channel our fears and anxieties in mobilizing the broad masses. As true disciples of Christ, we must live out the same values and compassion we all share, as He has bravely stood among the marginalized people during His time,” adds the student body.

The Far Eastern University (FEU) Central Student Organization is also calling for a walkout. They claim that election anomalies are done during the election and hence will not accept the former senator and son of the late dictator to take the highest position. They then encouraged fellowmen and students to join their protest outside the Commission on Election’s main office.

“Sa panahon na lantaran ang kabi-kabilang anomalya sa halalan, hindi natin hahayaan na maluklok ang isang anak ng diktador at siyang sinungaling at magnanakaw. Inaanyayahan namin na makilahok ang bawat isa sa isasagawang electoral protest sa harap ng COMELEC main office Intramuros,” stated by the FEU student organization.

Former Senator Bongbong Marcos and his family have been in the spotlight since their late father and former President Ferdinand Marcos took the highest seat in Malacañang.

The Marcoses are associated with dictatorship, ill-gotten wealth, and human rights violations but Bongbong Marcos is still winning.

Marcos is leading with a 16,270,499 difference against his opponent Vice President Leni Robredo while Sara Duterte is ahead with 22,309,879 votes against Senator Kiko Pangilinan. They compared data is based on the Election Returns transmitted as of 2:17 PM on May 11, 2022.
