Based on the latest data published by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), more than 22M SIM card users are already registered in the country.

More than three weeks after the mandatory registration began, NTC recorded a total of 22,298,090 SIM card registrants coming from major mobile companies such as Smart, Globe and DITO Telecommunity.

In an earlier report, NTC said that the country has a total of 168M active SIM users. NTC officer-in charge Commissioner Ella Blanca Lopez said that the latest number is just equivalent to at least 13.20% of the existing SIM subscribers nationwide.

The Mandatory Sim card registration was mandated into law by Republic Act No. 11934 or The Sim Registration Act which was officially signed into law on October 22. The registration started on December 27 last year and will end on April 26, 2023.

Failure to comply within the said registration will result in the deactivation of the user’s SIM.

The online registration is free of charge and will require the users to provide personal information including full name, date of birth, sex, address and a government issued identification card. Multiple SIM cards can also be registered under one name.
