The local government of Puerto Princesa recorded a death toll of 100 due to COVID-19 in the month of October 2021 where active cases rose to more than 1,000 cases.

The deaths per day was at least 1 and peaked on October 18 with 8 deceased and 7 mortalities on October 1 and 21.

Out of the 100 individuals, 94 were not vaccinated, 2 had their first dose and 4 were fully vaccinated with the average age of 71.

91 of the patients who died were 51 years old and above.

The current total number of mortalities this year has climbed to 349.

In a social media post of the City Information Department, it stated that vaccines are still the main protection from hospitalization or complications brought by the virus.

The local government is also continuously conducting the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 with almost 50% of the eligible population fully inoculated. And is now also vaccinating minors between the age of 12 to 17-years old.
