The Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 1503-2019 mandating the extension of the tricycle franchise Mayor’s Permit renewal and payment of annual Supervision Fee for 30 days has been approved and signed by Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron on April 15.
“Samantalahin po natin, isang buwan lang po ito na ibinibigay na tiyansa sa atin para makapagrenew po tayo ng Mayor’s Permit ng ating tricycle,” said City Councilor Rolando T. Amurao.
The extension will be effective for 30 days immediately taking effect after the approval of the City Mayor and the receipt of the City Tricycle Franchising and Regulatory Board (CTFRB) of the signed resolution. The extension will take effect starting April 15 to May 15.
“Yung mga walk-in po nating mga kababayan na magrerenew na ng Mayor’s Permit ay agad po tinutugunan at nagsimula na po tayo sapagkat base po doon sa resolution ay upon approval ng ating resolution at pwede na po tayong magsimula,” said Mr. Rodel M. Muñoz, Head of the Tricycle Franchising Section.
Out of 6250 tricycle franchise holders, there are still 1683 tricycle franchise holders, which include those with regular franchise as well as special franchise, that were not able to comply with the renewal of the Mayor’s Permit as well as those who are still processing their papers in the Land Transportation Office.
If the tricycle franchise holder fails to comply the renewal of the Mayor’s Permit and payment during the mandated extension, the Certificate of Franchise will be cancelled as a penalty as per the Section 22 of the City Ordinance No. 494.
“Ang lahat po ng di makakapagrenew ay subject na po sa strict compliance ng ating ordinansa na kung saan ito po ay kakanselahin ng ating Sangguniang Panlungsod.” Muñoz said.
If the documents of the franchise holders are still pending in the Land Transportation Office after the duration of the extension period, the franchise holders can still renew their permit as long as they provide a certification from the Land Transformation Office with the reason that their documents are released after the extension.
