BJMP-PPCJ conducts ‘Oplan Baklas’; seizes different contrabands

The Bureau of Jail and Penology (BJMP) at Puerto Princesa City Jail (PPCJ) has conducted a three-day “Oplan Baklas”, tearing out the facility’s roofs and ceilings, aimed at seizing contrabands within the facility.

Jail Senior Inspector (JSINSP) Irene Gaspar, PPCJ warden, told Palawan Daily News (PDN) Thursday this June 16 to 18 operation was their response following the earlier attempt of an individual outside the facility to throw contraband items over the prison wall.

Sa jail rules and regulations kasama din talaga ‘yon,” she added.

JSINSP Gaspar said two cellular phones were also surrendered to them after the operation.

During the Oplan Baklas, PPCJ has recorded its seized items including cellphone charger, electrical wires, bluetooth speakers, while a smart watch, two cellular phones, and an improvised knife were surrendered afterwards.

Gaspar advised the families and loved ones of the inmates to cooperate with the jail management regarding its established rules and regulations toward the good of every person deprived of liberty (PDL) at the facility.
