City bars not allowed to serve liquor during MGCQ

The city government reminded the bar owners and operators in Puerto Princesa Monday that they still cannot serve liquor during the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), in line with the earlier ordinance approved by the city council.

Atty. Arnel Pedrosa, City Administrator and Legal Counsel told Palawan Daily News (PDN) Monday evening that along with it, bars are subject to the 10:00 PM curfew as well.

“Iyong liquor ban, ‘yong ban on public consumption, hanggang ngayon ay effective pa rin kasi Sanggunian ang nag-pasa noon,” said Pedrosa.

“Tsaka ‘yong curfew papaano ‘yon hanggang alas-diyes lang, so meaning dapat mga between 8 to 8:30 [p.m.] sarado na sila. Mag-paaga siguro dapat sila mag-open,” he added.

Atty. Pedrosa said provided also in the MGCQ guidelines that the bar venue may accommodate customers in a reduced capacity or just the half of its total seating capacity.

Pedrosa said the bars may serve food, watch concert, but without any liquor consumption.

“Basically hindi pa talaga sila puwede magpa-inom. Siguro manood lang muna ng mga concert-concert, magpakain doon, iyon ay puwede. Pero ‘yong iinom doon, naku malabo pa ‘yon,” said Pedrosa.

He also added that every bar attendant must strictly observe social distancing.
