City Government allots P4-million transportation assistance to Puerto Princesan LSIs

The City Government of Puerto Princesa is going to extend around P4-million transportation assistance to its more than 2,000 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in the country, said the City Budget Officer (CBO) Wednesday.

CBO Regina Cantillo told Palawan Daily News (PDN) Wednesday, June 10, this financial assistance is in line with the resolution of City Councilor Elgin Damasco, which was approved at the plenary on Monday.

“Kanina lang napondohan na namin ‘yong pambayad sa 2GO, pina-process na pambayad sa 2GO. Kasi ‘yong mga manggagaling ng Luzon sa Manila, so city ang kausap ng 2GO,” said Cantillo.

“Iyong mga manggagaling naman sa Visayas, Mindanao, ipapadala through Palawan Pawnshop sa mga LSIs,” she added.

On Monday Councilor Damasco filed a resolution requesting Mayor Lucilo Bayron that the city government extend P2,500 each transportation assistance to more than 2,000 LSIs all over the country.

Damasco noted that Puerto Princesan LSIs need this travel assistance, for they are facing financial difficulties, and even emotional distress due to this COVID-19 crisis.

CBO Cantillo stated the over 2,000 LSIs who registered to the City Tourism Office (CTO) will have P2,500 each for their fare back home.
