City Government to build 9-km road in Langogan

The City Government of Puerto Princesa is set to implement the nine-kilometer road project from Bukang-Liwayway to Kalabukay in Barangay Langogan, Puerto Princesa City in an effort to make the purok in the barangay accessible.

City Government Executive Assistant and former City Councilor Feliberto “Felly Boy” Oliveros said that they are fast-tracking the implementation of the project.

On Thursday, August 13, 2020, personnel from the different agencies including barangay officials and personnel, visited the area for the start of the clearing, stalking, and inventory of the affected trees, etc.

Present during the site visit were personnel from City Government offices of engineering, assessor, agriculture, environment and natural resources, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS), and Philippine Marines.

Punong Barangay Camilo Bebit said that the project is a big help to the local residents in their barangay especially those who live in interior puroks, like Kalabukay.

He said that they, the barangay officials facilitated the dialogue with landowners where the proposed road will traverse, and convince them to donate portions of their properties to pave way for the road project.

“Makakabuti ito para sa kanila, mapapadali ang kanilang pag-transport ng mga produkto. Pag-inayawan (landowners) nila ang kalsada, e balang araw sila rin ang sisisihin ng kanilang mga apo,” Bebit said.

Last month, the Sangguniang Barangay of Langogan passed a resolution requesting City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron and the Sangguniang Panlungsod to allocate funds and open road from Bukang Liwayway to Kalabukay.

“Ang mga mamamayan na nakatira sa kabilang ilog ng Barangay Langogan ay hirap sa pagpapatawid ng kanilang mga produkto sa kabilang kalsada, lalo na sa panahon ng tag-ulan,” the barangay resolution states.

Barangay Langogan is the northernmost barangay of the city, that lies in the boundary of Puerto Princesa City and Roxas town some 80-kilometers from the city proper.
