Motorcade to replace Caracol on Dec 8 Feast of the Immaculate Conception

Due to the pandemic, Puerto Princesa’s annual fluvial procession will not be possible in this year’s celebration of the Feast of Immaculate Conception on December 8. Instead of the traditional voyage trip at the sea of Mother Mary image in Puerto bay, the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa decided to hold a motorcade as replacement to caracol and the traditional procession at night, and will take place on the eve of the feast day.

The motorcade is scheduled at 3 in the afternoon of Dec 7, it will take the usual processional route from Cathedral in the Taft street down to Manalo st, crossing Villarosa to Rizal ave, then to Roxas st, turn in Malvar street before going back to the Cathedral.

The highlighted celebration thru concelebrated mass is at 4:30 in the afternoon of December 8, with around 4 high ranking church priests from Palawan and other guest’s priests to officiate the holy mass.

This year’s theme of the feast day of Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is “Mary, cause of our joy,” this 2020 will mark the 148th year’s fiesta celebration.

The Cathedral’s festivity already started last November 30 with Rosary and Novena every 1:30 in the afternoon, followed by a Holy Mass every 5:30. Other activities includes are distribution of fingerlings at the City Baywalk at 6 in the morning of December 7, on the same day a holy mass for the environment is set at 2PM.

Here are the schedules of masses on Dec 8, from morning it starts at 5:00, 6:15, 7:30, 8:45, 10 and 11:15AM, in the afternoon it is set at 2:30, 4:30, and 6:15 in the evening. The ICP would like to inform the public that they are observing strict protocols in all of the said events, plus many of the program will be broadcasted live in the parish’s official Facebook page.
