Palawan launches KADIWA ng Pangulo 2023 to provide affordable local agricultural products to the community

To promote local agriculture and provide affordable and nutritious food options to the residents of Palawan, Governor Victorino Dennis M. Socrates led the launching of KADIWA ng Pangulo (KNP) 2023. The event took place at the Centennial Pavilion of the Provincial Capitol on July 17, 2023.

KADIWA ng Pangulo, a flagship program of the national government, aims to connect farmers directly to consumers, eliminating unnecessary middlemen and ensuring fair prices for both parties. The program brings together various government agencies, cooperatives, and private enterprises to make fresh agricultural products easily accessible to the public.

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) spearheaded the initiative in partnership with the Palawan Tarabidan Multi-purpose Cooperative, which serves as the official KADIWA partner in Palawan. Other key collaborators include the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Palawan, National Food Authority (NFA), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and NCCC Mall Palawan.

“Thank you for this project sapagkat alam natin na maraming makikinabang dito, matutulungan ang ating mga producers at ganun din ang ating mga consumers sa pamamagitan ng mabibiling pangangailangang pagkain at basic necessities sa murang halaga,” Socrates said.

Following the successful launch, KADIWA ng Pangulo is expected to continue to operate in Palawan, creating a sustainable supply chain that benefits both farmers and consumers. The program will contribute to the development of the local agricultural sector and foster economic growth in the province and Palaweños can look forward to enjoying locally sourced, high-quality food products at reasonable prices, while simultaneously supporting the livelihoods of their fellow community members.
