Some 300 kids of Sitio Jacana in Brgy. Bancao-Bancao received early Christmas gifts and food from Batang Puerto Princesa, the biggest online community of Puerto Princesans here and abroad.

Called as “Bayanihang Pasko”, the event is now in its second year. It is the annual charity event of the group with more than 40,000 members.

“Ang Batang Puerto Princesa ay isang grupo ng kabataan ng Puerto Princesa na ngayon ay nagsipaglakihan na, ito ay isang grupo ng mga nagmamahal sa kanyang tahanan, dahil ang tahanan ay kung nasaan ang iyong puso,” Bautista said.

BPP Founder Majal Bautista explained that it’s their intention to hold the activity last November 30 in line with the Bonifacio Day celebration.

They always want to make Jesus Christ as the center of it since he is a real superhero that needs to be the focus of the activity.

“Lahat ay boluntaryong ibinibigay, kawang-gawa ng mga taong ayaw magsabi ng mga pangalan, ito yung totoong pagmamahal na hindi nagsasabi kung sino sya,” Bautista added.

Funds used in buying food, goodies and gift items were all donations from different members of the group that wished to remain anonymous.

Bautista said that it’s not important who donated, but the thought of volunteerism and the idea of helping each other is what matters most.

Batang Puerto Princesa started in 2017 amidst the political feud in the city where exchanges of opinions and points of view were all over social media, and later on, it became a venue to see the good old days of Puerto Princesa where many people missed and have fond memories to recall.

Nowadays, it is a platform of honoring fellow Puerto Princesans who excel in doing good Samaritan work, a venue to call the government to act, and aiding fellows who need help or assistance through medicines or even prayers.

“Ang Batang Puerto Princesa started as a digital online group, pero dahil meron na syang underground convergences, everyday makikita mo sa page mga nawawalang aso, nawawalang lisensya, mga taong nangangailangan ng tulong. So yung pagtutulungan ng bayanihan ginawang digital, everyday buhay ang Batang Puerto Princesa,” Bautista said.
