Puerto Princesa City received 5,100 doses of Gamaleya Sputnik V Component II, the second dose for the Russian-made vaccine, which is exact to the number of recipients needing the second jab.
Dr. Ricardo Panganiban, Puerto Princesa City Health Officer and Chairman of the COVID-19 Vaccination Council said that the vaccines arrived past 11:00 AM, September 22, 2021, at the city’s storage facility.
He added that Sinovac, AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines as well arrived together with the Sputnik V Component II but they are counting the doses received as it is currently being transferred to the vaccine refrigerators.
According to the Puerto Princesa City COVAC social media post, they have allocated 4 days for the vaccination and will be at the City Coliseum.
Those who received their first dose on June 28 will receive their second dose on September 23 (Thursday); June 29 and 30 will be on September 24 (Friday); July 1 and 2 will be on September 25 (Saturday); July 5, 6 and 7 will be on September 28 (Tuesday next week).
PPC-COVAC are reminding those who will be queueing up for their second dose to follow the schedule based on the date they received their first jab to avoid overcrowding and spread of COVID-19.
They are also advising not to forget the vaccination card and ballpen. And to also follow the minimum health standard being implemented by the local government.
Meanwhile, the PPC-COVAC is focusing on the urban area and conducting a vaccination drive per barangay. And on Friday, September 24, 2021, they are targeting Brgy. San Miguel.
Dr. Panganiban as well stated that the turnout is not as much as they expected because the vaccinees are choosing the vaccine brand. In a separate interview, he shared one of the hurdles they are facing in reaching herd immunity in the city.
