PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — The first, and so far, the only jail in the Philippines to have adapted and created “Cyber Burol”, Puerto Princesa City Jail has made a remarkable milestone as it caters to the needs of persons deprived of liberty (PDL).

This, after one of its inmates availed to this free service – watching and interacting with a live stream during the burial of his father from their house at Barangay Dumanguenia, Narra, Palawan, 97 kilometers away from the city jail.

Due to safety and security reasons, the detainee was not allowed by the court to travel beyond the 30-kilometer radius. BJMP’s policy states that a detainee can be escorted if the area is within the allowable distance.

Jail Officers of the Technical Team will visit the family members and set-up the live streaming, which is viewable in the city jail.

Through the letter of request of the affected family, and once approved, the live telecast can be done through Skype application.
