Twelve pregnant women proudly showcased their beauty and health in the Healthy Pregnancy Pageant held on August 16 at Robinson’s Place Palawan.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH), City Health Office, and Center for Health and Development (CHD) MIMAROPA, was part of the Healthy Habits, Healthy Philippines Campaign.
Confidently showcasing their pregnancy glow, the contestants walked the runway in floral casual wear and creative attire made from mosquito nets, paper, plastic spoons, and garbage bags.
The pageant also included a question and answer segment, focusing on the importance of proper maternal care and nurturing for the twelve radiant pregnant women.
In addition to the pageant, a lecture highlighted the significance of prenatal care and the participation of husbands in the pregnancy journey, childbirth, and infant care. The responsibility of nurturing and raising a child was emphasized as a joint effort between both parents.
Dr. Ralph Marco Flores, Medical Officer III and Interim HEPU Head, shared a message stating, “Even without makeup, pregnancy becomes more meaningful when we are healthy.” He added that being pregnant shouldn’t hinder one’s pursuit of health and beauty.
Attendees gained valuable knowledge, including recognizing danger signs to safeguard the delicate conditions of pregnant mothers and their unborn babies.
Rowena Francisco Magbanua of Bgy. Tiniguiban was crowned the Healthy Pregnant Women grand winner, earning a prize of ₱10,000. Ma. Cristina Bueza of Bgy.
