Thousand of doses of local government procured vaccines arrived, prioritizing urban area vaccination

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Puerto Princesa City received 6,100 doses of vaccine on August 18; 5,000 doses of Sinovac from the national government and 1,100 doses of AstraZeneca procured by the LGU earlier this year through a tripartite agreement.

“Dumating po ay Sinovac 5,000 at 1,100 doses ng Astra[Zeneca] ng City, part na po ‘yan ng binili ng city,” according to Dr Ricardo Panganbina, PPC-COVAC Chairman.

Panganiban added that this would be allocated to the main vaccination site. Their office is yet to schedule the immunization of those living in the rural areas of Puerto Princesa.

“Dito po muna tayo. [Ang] priority kasi natin [ay] ang urban. Wala pa sa ngayon tayong ulit na schedule sa malalayong lugar,” he says.

Dr Panganiban also stated that the LGU is slowly receiving the orders made in January despite the worldwide demand and shortage of vaccines.

“Unti-unti na rin dumadating ‘yung ating in-order… Talagang kapos ‘yung supply ‘ yung order nga natin saka palang dumadating paunti-unti.”
