Three centenarians were honored on October 1 during the 28th Elderly Filipino Week and the 41st anniversary celebration of the Federation of Senior Citizen Association of the Philippines (FSCAP)–Puerto Princesa City at the Balayong People’s Park.
The awardees were Bienvenida Villapa, a resident of Barangay San Pedro born on August 16, 1925; Juan Rapsing, a resident of Barangay Luzviminda born on January 25, 1925; and Encarnacion B. Aquias, a resident of Barangay San Miguel born on December 2, 1925. Each is 100 years old.
The centenarians, represented by their families, received certificates of recognition. They are also set to receive ₱100,000 each from the city government and another ₱100,000 incentive from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in accordance with government programs for senior citizens.
OSCA Head Ma. Asuncion D. Vigonte reminded families of senior citizens aged 80 and above to ensure the completion of required documents, including birth certificates, marriage contracts, national IDs, and other papers, to avoid delays in processing benefits from the national government.
City Social Welfare and Development Officer Remy C. Beltran congratulated the centenarians and expressed gratitude to their families for their continued care. FSCAP–Puerto Princesa City officers also presented tokens of recognition before the program concluded with the singing of the Senior Citizen Song.
