Yakult is trending in Palawan, supplier admits high demand

Healthy drink Yakult is stirring a buzz in the city ever since barter pages online in Puerto Princesa is using and bartering the said products as exchange to other items. This favorite fermented milk drink launched in 1935 is serving almost like a “currency” as a number of Puerto Princesans would want this traded with clothes, gadgets, furnitures and other items they want to let go.

An unnamed spokesperson from a local Yakult Supplier told Palawan Daily News that there is a high demand of their products in all malls, groceries and different stores since the start of lockdown. The supplies that will last for seven days for the whole province will only last two days in the market now.

“Shortage talaga because of demand, gusto magpa-healthy ng mga tao, kasi 70% ng immunity is digestive system related,” the source said.

Palawan is getting a weekly supply of 20-foot containers of Yakult from Metro Manila. The local supplier cannot request for more due to production concerns from their factory, and the fact that it is also in demand in many parts of the country due to the pandemic.
