Yamang Bukid Farm, based in Brgy. Bacungan, Puerto Princesa City, launched project EARTHducation, an environmental education initiative targeting school children and youth coinciding with the World Environment Day yesterday, June 5.

Daniel E. Anjan, Farm Operations General Manager, said that EARTHducation will raise environmental awareness among the children and the youth.

“This will be an avenue to educate them of what is really happening in the environment and what are the things that we can do to solve the issue. Education is a powerful tool to foster environmental awareness and understanding to our children,” he said.

The project was launched through “EcoBiking for a Cause: Beating Air Pollution” by professional bikers. The bikers pedaled from the national highway of Brgy. Bacungan going to Talaudyong beach.

Each biker has to give school supplies as a registration to the event, and these school materials will be given to students of San Carlos Elementary School under EARTHducation project.

Each biker gave two notebooks, one pen, one pencil, one pack of crayons, one sharpener, one pad paper, one eraser and one long brown envelop.

“This is not a race, we do it for awareness,” Anjan said.

Anjan explained that Yamang Bukid is dedicated to promote environmental awareness and sustainabity. The farm is geared towards celebrating events that involved environmental preservation, the reason why they launched EARTHducation during this significant environmental celebration.
