What does it take to be a woman of today’s era?

Nowadays, the Filipino word “marupok” is commonly used to define how millennials abruptly reacted towards such certainties. Memes and tag lines are randomly posted through social media sites gaining thousands of shares and likes.
But nevertheless, as they say, “be that matibay in this world full of marupok,” and try to contemplate with these things to ponder:

1. Self-empowerment.
Siszt, you should learn how to empower yourself by any means that you know would be of help to you as long as you bare in mind that self-empowerment begets self-respect and vice versa.

2. Self-love.
One of the vital principles of a human person is learning to love his/herself, and as cliché as it goes, you have to love yourself first. Know yourself deeper, and I’m swearing to God and the Heavens above, you will be one of the happiest humans on earth.

And also, siszt, please don’t stress yourself so much of love. You’re not running out of time, actually, you have so much time to prepare before God gives and lets you find your forever person. Pray to Him and submit to Him whatever your heart truly desires.

3. Go out of your own box.

Let yourself grow physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Grow within the environment that will nurture yourself and let you embrace your worth and value. We are now in the setting wherein prince charmings aren’t existing and you’re not even a damsel in distress.

There’ll be no knight in shining armor riding on a white horse who will come to save you amidst your chaotic universe, but given the fact that our Father’s love is relentless and will not forsaken us is amazing to know that we are assured of being loved back.

4. You are worthy.

You are definitely amazingly worthy for the love you have to have. Never settle for less. You have lots of time to figure out e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. Don’t rush for the things you know can wait. Satisfy yourself with perpetual happiness and know that you are loved.

6. You always have a choice.

You always have your choice whether to choose or not, but of course, you need to weigh things first before you act upon a single decision to which will comprise your future and ahead path. (Take note also of the consequences.)

7. You have your own voice.

You should not be afraid to express your own thoughts and opinions plus you can also reach out for those people who cannot stand and speak up for themselves.
You can voice out everything through writing. It’s effective and it really helps a lot to unleash your random thoughts, feelings, ideas and creativity. Believe me, you’ll be surprised on what things you can do more. It’s either a poet-I-never-expected-myself-to-be or a crestfallen-turned-to-be-a-writer.

8. Spare time to unwind.

Unwind yourself with some of the on-the-go activities you can have on hand or simply your hobbies like reading books (prior novels or any genre of books you wish to read); dance or sing whichever of the two you think will make you feel alright (well, you can do both); eat—discover places which serves great and budget-friendly foods such as cafés, fast food chains or even street foods. For sure, that’ll make you feel better; and also try going to beaches or places you haven’t gone yet.

It’s a nice way of unwinding with your friends and family, too. You also have to relax yourself in the midst of academic stressing (because we all know that school (deny it or not) sucks); soul and inner peace searching. Don’t let yourself be doomed. Learn how to rest, girl; and, get some sleep or take a nap—that’s one of the best ways to keep in touch with another universe, a universe at peace, and everything seems to be in place. You need to spoil yourself, sweetie!

9. Focus.

Know your priorities and the things you re ally want to achieve. For sure, living this life has never been easy. Direct yourself together with such aspects like your studies, family and friends, and your priorities like what program to enrol in college and bucketlist plans for you and your family’s future.

10. Betterment of the self.

Changing for your own good and loving yourself are necessary, because why not? You will face giants towards the process yet you get to learn new eruditions, and the countless doors that had been closed having life lessons will make yourself even better.

11. Be educated.

Be a lady of intellect and sophistication. Know where and what you stand for. It’s classy if you do the “beauty and brains” approach. It will not only reflect solely for you but to everyone you’re with—the institution you came from and you are in, your parents, family and peers. Hence, you must study well and learn to apply your learning towards life.

12. Be a lady who’s confidently beautiful with a heart.

Everyone will like you because you are pretty, but always keep in mind that everyone will love you because you’re more than of a beautiful face whose heart is as precious as what other people can see outside of you—the inner beauty you have, it’s just, beautiful, and that’s what makes you stand out.

Be confident being you for you are imperfectly perfect, God’s masterpiece.
