Tourist arrivals in Palawan grew by 964% in 2022

 

The tourist arrivals in Palawan grew by record-high 964% between January and December 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.

 

Palawan demonstrated renewed strength recording a total of 690,275 tourist arrivals based on Department of Tourism (DOT) – Tourism Live Inventory and Statistics of Tourist Arrivals of TOURLISTA on January 9 this year.

 

The number of foreign tourists in the world-famous island surged to 40,592, while domestic tourists registered a total of 533,318 arrivals.

 

The Palawan Provincial Information Office (PIO) said that the province’s tourist arrivals surged a 964% increase in 2022 compared to -79.60% in 2021.

 

Americans topped the foreign tourists who visited Palawan last year, accounting for 14,658. Spain came in second with 6,453 total tourist arrivals.

 

The other inbound markets are the following:

 

1) United Kingdom – 6,332

2) France – 4,874

3) Australia – 3,857

4) Germany – 3,777

5) Canada – 3,519

6) Netherlands – 3,415

7) China – 2,748

8) Ireland – 1,625

 

El Nido tops the list for the most visited town in the province, followed by Coron in 2nd place, San Vicente in 3rd and Brooke’s Point in the 4th town choice of destination. The province’s ‘rice granary,’ Narra, meanwhile, holds the 5th spot.
