Although the Muslim holy month of Ramadan will begin on Thursday, March 23, the Malacañang announced that only Eid Al Fitr or the end of Ramadan on April 21, will be declared a holiday in the country.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed through acts of fasting and prayer by billions of Muslims across the world.
During this holy month of observation, Muslims, from sunrise to sunset, refrain from eating and drinking, aside from those who have health problems.
