Puerto Princesa fisherman’s body fished out off aborlan waters

The body of a fisherman missing since December 29 was discovered in the waters off Barangay Tigman, Aborlan, on January 5. The man has been identified as Dexter Baja, a resident of Barangay Mangingisda in Puerto Princesa City.

According to Police Major Ric Ramos, information officer of the Palawan Police Provincial Office (PalPPO), Baja’s family confirmed his identity following the discovery of the body. The remains were found around 10AM by a local fisherman who promptly notified authorities.

Rescue teams responded swiftly, retrieving Baja’s body, which was reportedly in an advanced state of decomposition. He was found wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt and black jogging pants.

The PalPPO report confirmed that the body was located in a remote area off Aborlan, approximately 10 kilometers from the shore.

Baja’s relatives had earlier filed a missing person report after he failed to return from a fishing trip on December 29. The family had found his boat drifting near Jacana in Barangay Bancao-Bancao, but there was no sign of him at that time.

The cause of Baja’s death remains under investigation, with authorities awaiting the results of a formal autopsy to determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death.
