Bayubay, now on 90 day suspension

Dr Natividad Bayubay was placed under a preventative 90-day suspension from the Schools Division Office of Department of Education (DepEd) Palawan since December 4, 2020.

The formal complaint filed against her by the Department of Education is on the grounds of Grave Misconduct and Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of Service; Grave Misconduct, Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of Service, Gross Neglect of Duty and Violation of Reasonable Office Rules and Regulation; and Grave Misconduct, Gross Neglect of Duty and Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of Service.

Last December 2019, 3 Officials from different DepEd sectors filled a complaint against Bayubay for mismanagement of funds.

Some of the complaints are the purchase of overpriced learning materials that amounted to P13,224,842, and participants of training carried out, which should be free, were asked to pay a registration fee of P2,000 totalling to the amounting of P7,242,000. And also spending the government funds procurement for the Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials including training package amounting to P14,839,608.

Bayubay was said to have insulted Cuyunons in a virtual meeting. Others also complained that she led a luxurious lifestyle in the office by buying electric-powered appliances using government funds.

The investigation of the Commission on Audit resulted in confirming these allegations, thus resulting in the suspension.

Currently, the investigation is still ongoing.
