Second District Board Member Ryan Dagsa Maminta confirmed to Palawan Daily News (PDN) that he will donate his salary in the whole month of April as a support for the proposed COVID-19 laboratory of the province of Palawan.
In a communication he sent, it was addressed to Vice Gov. Victorino Dennis Socrates thru Secretary to the Sanggunian Angela Rodriguez-Peña dated April 7 and was received also by the Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on the same date, expressing his willingness to share his one-month salary.
“In the spirit of Bayanihan and sacrifice, we write to respectfully inform your good office that this representation will be donating my salary for the month of April to the proposed laboratory/testing center of the Province of Palawan in our united effort to fight Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID19),” the letter stated.
Through chat, BM Maminta said that the amount is around P80,000 to P90,000.
“Tulong-tulong lang [tayo ngayong panahon ng krisis],” he added.
He further said that his letter is to formalize his privilege speech with the same objective during their special session today, April 7 at the Session Hall in the Legislative Building.
“According to IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) thru sir [PDRRM Officer] Jerry [Alili], the target [area] for the proposed facility will be a property of the PGP (Provincial Government of Palawan) in PPC (Puerto Princesa City),” Maminta explained but added that the IATF do not want to disclose it prematurely.
Meanwhile, in the recent interview of PDN Team with Provincial Health Officer Mary Ann Navarro, she said that they are eyeing to use the Detect-TB machine for COVID-19 testing and guarantee the Palaweños that it would be done according to Biosafety Level 2 procedures. She added that they will purchase test kits for COVID-19 from US, the soonest time possible.
