Coastal community in Roxas, Palawan bands together to save a stranded sea cow

Village officials and Bantay Dagat workers conducted a rescue mission in Roxas, Palawan, successfully saving a stranded female sea cow on a beach in Barangay Malcampo yesterday morning, October 17.
Bong Libiran, the head of the town’s Bantay Dagat team, led the operation in response to a distress call about the sea cow.
The rescue mission unfolded at approximately 6AM. The sea cow, measuring approximately 2.4 meters in length and weighing around 150 kilograms, was found in a weakened state, prompting immediate action from the community and authorities.
The creature is currently under the care of local wildlife experts who will assess its condition and work towards its rehabilitation and eventual return to the sea.
