The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Aborlan, Palawan on Tuesday, August 17, started to implement the stricter Mandatory Wearing of Face Mask in public places. Penalties await residents who would defy the protocol.
It was announced by Mayor Celsa Adier during their flag raising ceremony on Monday, Agust 16 after the Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force (MIATF) agreed to impose the penalties in accordance with Municipal Ordinance No. 52, Series of 2020.
According to LGU, aside from the vaccine against COVID-19, it is also important to wear a face mask. This will help prevent the virus from spreading further.
As stated in the said ordinance, penalties for violation are: for the first offense, fine of ₱200.00; second offense, fine of ₱500.00; for the 3rd offense, fine of not more than ₱2,500.00 and/or imprisonment for 10 to 30 days at the discretion of the proper court.
In relation to this, Aborlan Municipal Police Station (MPS) started to strictly enforce mandatory wearing of face mask to increase the people’s protection against the COVID-19 and its variants.
