Native Palaw’an Mayor takes office in Palawan town

Wearing his traditional bahag, a proud native Palaw’an, Mayor Otol J. Odi formally took over the leadership of the municipality of Dr. Jose P. Rizal during the Turn Over Ceremony in the Municipal Gymnasium, Rizal, Palawan, 1st of July.

All of the records, documents and information were turned over to Mayor Odi from the outgoing Mayor Norman S. Ong who is also the new Municipal Vice Mayor of Rizal.

The new Rizal mayor promised to pay back for the support of his people through projects and services.

“Ang sabi ko noon, tulungan niyo ako, wala akong pera pero ako manalo, bayaran ko kayo proyekto, bayaran ko kayo serbisyo,” said Mayor Otol Odi.

The mayor expressed his support on President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against drugs.

“Suportahan natin ang ating presidente na ‘yung i-monitor at tulungan natin yung anti-drug abuse project sapagkat po ang mga kabataan natin ay baka po sila malalang sa ipinagbabawal na gamot,” said Odi.

Mayor Odi assured to take care of the records and the fund of the municipality which was turned over to him.

“‘Yun po ay ingatan ko, ipinagtiwala niyo sa akin; ang kaban ng bayan, ang mga record ng bayan. Kaya po ‘yan po asahan niyo, ingatan ko para hindi ako maligaw,” said the mayor.

Supporting the municipal mayor and vice-mayor are the Municipal Councilors Arvin Fuentes, Ana May O. Baluyut, Zaldy C. Magabanua, Joey Narrazid, Jethro L. Degillo, Mariafe A. Ocampo, Pepito Drilon and Gracia M. Zapanta.

The municipality of Rizal witnessed Mayor Odi’s rise to office as he won the mayorial race winning with 8,575 votes during the May 13 National and Local Elections.
