Palawan ABC presidents gather for general assembly, receive guidance from Governor Socrates

Palawan Governor V. Dennis M. Socrates personally attended on Tuesday, March 5, the General Membership Assembly of the Provincial Liga ng mga Barangay with the theme “Empowering Communities; Strengthening Barangay Governance for Progress and Unity.”
The event gathered all barangay captains in Palawan province along with Municipal Liga ng mga Barangay Presidents at the Citystate Asturias Hotel in Puerto Princesa City.
Board Member Zaballa, Provincial Liga ng mga Barangay President and Ex-Officio Member, highlighted the purpose of the gathering to orient officials, particularly the newly elected barangay captains, on providing effective service and enhancing their knowledge of their responsibilities as barangay leaders.
Discussions during the meeting included important matters such as updates on annual dues and publication fees, financial assistance from the Provincial Government or aid to barangays, Liga ng mga Barangay ID issuance, among others.
Additionally, topics like Fidelity Bonding and Online Fidelity Bonding System (OFBS) Procedures were tackled by Ms. Shiela Mae P. Guno, OIC Provincial Head of the Bureau of Treasury, and the Role of DILG Specifically MLGOO to Barangays, Schedule of Trainings to Capacitate the BBIS at Latest Update Issuances, Compliances and Directives of DILG were presented by Ms. Leny P. Escaro, Outcome Manager of DILG Palawan.
Meanwhile, in his address, Governor Socrates conveyed his warm greetings to the officials, especially the newly elected barangay captains, emphasizing the significant role they play as public servants.
“Congratulations to all of you, especially to the newly elected barangay captains. We should take pride in our service to the government because the role you play as leaders is crucial… you are indispensable because without you, there is no government and there is no community,” Governor Socrates said.
Vice Governor Leoncio N. Ola also attended the gathering along with several Board Members and representatives from congressmen.
