The Palawan Provincial Government on Tuesday started to distribute livelihood assistance worth P30,000 each to qualified beneficiaries from the different people’s organizations in the towns of Roxas and Taytay.
The distribution was spearheaded by Palawan Governor Jose Chavez Alvarez through the initiative of the Gender and Development (GAD) Office under the Community-Based Gender and Development Enhancement bankrolled by the Palawan Provincial Government.
Each beneficiary received P30,000 in livelihood grant which can be used as primary capital for business or small livelihood enterprise like goat and hog raising, salt business, mat weaving production, and “pagbabagoong.”
461 total beneficiaries from different barangays in Taytay have received their P30,000 livelihood assistance while 254 beneficiaries were from various barangays in Roxas.
Sharlene Vilches, Provincial GAD Office-OIC and PPDO Project Evaluation Officer IV, said that the beneficiaries were chosen based on their recent household profiling survey to make sure that they will be helping out those who truly need livelihood sources of their own.
“Napakahabang proseso niyan. Una, mayroon kaming ginawang survey household profiling, so pili talaga ‘yung mga mahihirap at saka ‘yung mga malalayo ang lokasyon nila na talagang sa tingin namin sila ang nangangailangan,” Vilches said.
Meanwhile, the Palawan Provincial Government also targets to distribute livelihood grants to Dumaran and in the southern towns of Quezon and Espanola in the coming weeks.
