Palawan’s AI program benefits hundreds of livestock

The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of the Palawan Provincial Government spearheaded the Provincial Unified Artificial Insemination Program (UNAIP) Year-End Meeting held on December 14-15, at Ala Amid Bed and Breakfast in Puerto Princesa City.
Thirty (30) Artificial Insemination (AI) Technicians from various municipalities of the province and Puerto Princesa City attended the event, with resource speakers Dr. Jessica Gay Ortiz, AI and Bull Loan Coordinator from the Philippine Carabao Center, and Regional AI Coordinator Arman Melendrez from the Department of Agriculture (DA) MIMAROPA.
During the meeting, the PVO presented the services rendered under their Artificial Breeding Program, including the provision of services to one hundred ninety-seven (197) pregnant cows and carabaos, expecting to give birth from a total of five hundred two (502) serviced. Additionally, 2,287 animals received vitamins and underwent deworming, benefiting 1,241 Palaweño owners.
PVO Officer-in-Charge Dr. Darius P. Mangcucang assured continuous attention to similar services, aiming to benefit more livestock and farmers in the province.
Meanwhile, Board Member Ariston D. Arzaga, Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Aquatic Resources, affirmed the full support of the Provincial Board and the Provincial Government for the mentioned program.
