The 9th Arampangan sa Kapitolyo (ASK) conference delved into the proposed P4.5-billion annual budget of the Palawan Provincial Government for the fiscal year 2024.

The event took place on October 27 at the VJR Hall in the Provincial Capitol.

The discussion was led by Provincial Administrator Atty. Jethro Palayon, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Local Finance Committee (LFC). He was joined by Provincial Budget Officer Carlito Lorenzo, Provincial Information Officer Atty. Christian Jay Cojamco, and LFC Secretariat Isabel Guinto.

The session involved a comprehensive review of the 2024 Local Expenditure Program, which outlines the Development Priorities, Thrusts, and Directions Framework of the Provincial Government.

These priorities are directed towards governance, economy and livelihood, human development, general welfare, and environmental sectors.

As per the 2024 Local Expenditure Program, a substantial allocation of P1.5 billion will be devoted to the governance sector, P1.4 billion to human development, P1.1 billion for general welfare, P288 million for the economic sector, and P99 million for the environment sector.

Budget Officer Lorenzo explained that all programs, projects, and activities in the 2024 Local Expenditure Program were the result of extensive dialogue with various community sectors, including discussions held during the Usapang Palawan Summit and sectoral dialogues.
Provincial Administrator Palayon emphasized that the formulation of the annual budget aligns with the provisions of the Local Government Code of 1991, ensuring that public funds serve the public interest and benefit the greater community rather than the interests of a few.
