PSITE MIMAROPA names Joy Abueg as its new President

Professor Mary Joy Abueg from Palawan State University, is the new President of Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) for the whole Region 4B- MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan). She took her oath via zoom last March 17 with Commission on Higher Education MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Joselito Alisuag.

PSITE is a professional body of information technology education practitioners in the Philippines. Its members are primarily academics; instructors of computer science, information technology, information and communication technology, engineering, mathematics and allied fields.

The PSITE-MIMAROPA is the newest chapter of the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators which is the largest organization of Information Technology Educators in the country since 1998, who aims are to promote and advance the cause of IT education in Philippine schools and universities.

“Maraming salamat sa support, let us all be resilient and stand together for the betterment of PSITE MIMAROPA” Abueg said during the online ceremony.

Prof. Abueg before becoming President served as Board secretary from 2018 to 2019, she is also the Vice President for 2019 to 2020, the former Dean from Holy Trinity University also serve as Chairperson and ICT Director for Palawan State University

The newly-elected officers aside from Abueg are John Edgar S. Anthony, Vice-President-Internal (Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology); Maricris M. Osita, Vice-President-External (Occidental Mindoro State College); Larry N. Caduada, Jr, Secretary (Palawan State University); Francis A. Alterado, Treasurer (Palawan Polytechnic College) and Paquito G. Fernando Jr., Auditor (John Paul College). Appointed committee chairs were composed of Janine C. Advincula of Occidental Mindoro State College, Joey M. Villanueva, City College of Calapan, and Christine May L. Nabus, Marinduque State College.

Department of Information and Communications Technology Undersecretary  Engr. Alan Silor also attended the online ceremony, and deliver a supporting message for the new set of officers.
