ROAD SAFETY

In life, we often think that we are already doing the best things to make sure that our stay here on Earth is worthwhile and fun. However, in strolling in public places, are we really sure that we are doing the right ways to prolong our life? Get to be reminded of the simplest yet often-swept-under-the-rug safety measures that we should always keep close to our hearts.

A refresher about road accidents were brought about by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), a data was pulled up tackling about at least 1,670 Filipino children and approximately 12,000 Filipinos who are often victims of roadkill every year across the Philippines. Thinking about such, majority of the incidents were often caused by human error.

As heart-breaking as it is, we all know that such accidents can be prevented in uncomplicated ways. In crossing streets, here are some ways to observe. Especially, when you are to venture to highly urbanized roads:

  1. UNPLUG – Care to remove any audio devices, such as earphones, headphones, or ear pods that may prevent you from being vigilant from hearing the traffic enforcers and approaching vehicles.
  1. WALK – Avoid running while crossing the street as this may add tension on the motorists in which lane they should take in order to avoid bumping you. Also, make sure that you are in the pedestrian lane when walking across the street.
  1. SIGNALS – Know when to wait and walk by paying attention to the traffic lights.

Accidents could happen anytime and anywhere, but knowing the basic rules to avoid death and injury can help prolong lives.
