Matahum Beach Resort is indeed beautiful

Lined with nearly a kilometer-long white sand bar, “instagrammable” crystal clear water, unspoiled and untouched, this beach resort lives up to its name that means “beautiful” and has a lot to offer: serenity and cleansing from the toxicity of city life. Opened in March 2018, Matahum Beach is a good spot for full moon party. A perfect place in Palawan for team building, day tour, family gatherings, birthdays, reunions, and what have you!

The resort is also home to a unique bridge that was built without damaging the amazing lush shrubbery of mangroves alongside it. There is also a lounge facing the beach which can be rented exclusively.

At night, you can stay in one of their cottages with complete amenities. There is also a mini-bar and soon, a restaurant.

You can do fishing nearby where you can rent a bangka for about P2,000, and if you forget your fishing rod, you can rent P200/piece, good for whole day.

As the resort is expanding and to have more exciting activities, they are having a fish pond near the cottages where visitors can do fishing of bangus and other farmed fishes.

Reachable by land or water, going to the place is an adventure.

From Calle Bajo at the back of Tony’s Mart at the Baywalk, there is a regular motor banca going to Barangay Mangingisda, which costs only P30 for the one-way fare. Upon reaching the place, you may take the tricycle going to Matahum. It costs around P120 for the entire tricycle to be chartered.

If you prefer to travel by land, you can take any bus or van from San Jose Terminal going to Southern Palawan. Just advise the driver that you have to be dropped at Barangay Luzminda. The one-way trip would cost P50. From there, you take the tricycle going to Barangay Mangingisda bound for Purok Puting Buhangin to the Matahum Beach. Tricycle ride would cost P120.

The resort’s management takes environmental protection seriously and their eco-friendly initiatives include helping keep the beach unviolated and it’s greatly appreciated that visitors have to voluntary pickup trashes they see by the sea shore, apart from bringing their own garbage, making sure it’s “clean as you go.”
