A shooting incident occurred in Barangay Alacalian, Taytay, Palawan, at 9:00 AM on January 17, 2025.
The victim, identified only as “Gerry,” a senior citizen and farmer temporarily residing in the area, was fatally shot during the incident.
The suspect, known as “Jason,” a 40-year-old married resident of the same barangay, was arrested following the incident.
Initial investigations revealed that the two men were involved in a heated argument over a land dispute. During the altercation, the victim, armed with a bolo, attempted to attack the suspect. In response, the suspect, armed with an air gun, shot the victim in the forehead.
The victim sustained a fatal head injury and succumbed to his wounds. The suspect later surrendered voluntarily to authorities, along with the weapon used in the incident.
