TESDA to award farm schools and technical vocational institutions in Palawan

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will award ten farm schools in Palawan, including five in Puerto Princesa City, for their contribution in implementing the priority programs of the agency, for enhancing farmers’ skills and for supporting food sufficiency initiatives.

Five awardees in Puerto Princesa City are Yamang Bukid Farm in Barangay Bacungan, Tree of Life Nursery in Barangay Sta. Cruz, JAVENRI Harvest Farm, in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Eves Agri Farm in Barangay Babuyan and ASEA Greens Farm in Brgy. Sta. Lourdes.

Other farm school awardees are Adviento’s Integrated Farm in Sofronio Española, Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay-Social Action Center (AVT-SAC), in Coron, Bonsay Farm in Bataraza, Dos Four Dos Farm in Aborlan, and Fernandez Organic Vegetable Farm in El Nido.

The awarding will be held on September 9, 2019 at Puerto Princesa School of Arts and Trades (PPSAT).

“As the partner in the delivery of agriculture related programs to TESDA scholars and special clients (e.g. farmers, indigenous people, former rebels, drug dependents surrenderees, OSYs, uniformed personnel), the TESDA Regional Director Dir. Gamaliel B. Vicente wishes to recognize the efforts of the Farm Schools in Palawan in support of the agriculture sector and promotion of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programs at the grassroots level and the various TVIs with CSR Programs,” a statement from TESDA released on September 6, 2019, read.

TESDA will also confer an award to eight TVIs for conducting free community-based trainings. These are Asian Business Cabletow Cooperative Academy, Inc., in Aborlan, Palawan; Narra Polytechnic Institute of Technology, Inc., in Narra, Palawan; Northern Palawan Technological Institute, Inc., in El Nido, Palawan; and West Coast Technical Institute, Inc., in Quezon, Palawan.

Four of the awardee-TVIs are in Puerto Princesa City including Frontliners Skills Training and Review Center, Inc., Jesus the Divine Son Academy, Inc., Brgy. Tiniguiban, Puerto Princesa School of Science and Technology, Inc., and PPSAT.

“This recognition is also in support to the Palawan Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development Committee (PTESDC) Resolution No. 04, series 2017 entitled “Resolution Requesting the Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) to conduct at least Four Free Community Based Trainings Every Year”, the statement from TESDA further said.
