Tulfo seeks review on delay in SSS processing of claims

Senator Raffy Tulfo has recently passed Senate Resolution 554, which seeks to probe the delay in the processing of claims from members of the state-owned Social Security System (SSS).

Tulfo disclosed that the delays are causing a financial burden on retirees and other members.

“It is the responsibility of the Senate to ensure that government agencies such as the SSS are efficient in providing services to the public, especially to its members who have contributed to the system,” Tulfo said.

The senator lamented that members are not getting their government-mandated work benefits and claims in the SSS at the shortest possible time, especially during emergencies, because of the delays.

The legislation will focus on identifying the cause of delays and the steps being taken by the SSS to address the issue, as well as possible measures to expedite the release of benefits, including the use of digital technology and automation.

The senate members will also probe the need for additional funding and manpower needed by the SSS.

With this, Tulfo hopes to ensure retirees and members of SSS will receive their claims and benefits in a more expedited manner.
