With 18 judges over 13 candidates, this year’s commercial title of Miss Palawan was won by the Puerto Princesa representative Jennifer Linda after 5 hours of rigorous competition last December 8 at Puerto Princesa City Coliseum.
Linda is the reigning first runner-up of Miss Puerto Princesa, the Tourism major student from STI also took home the Best in Talent, Best in Festival Costume and Darling of the Press awards. During the question and answer portion, Linda was asked if she favored limiting the tourists visiting the province because of the lack of resources such as food, water, and electricity, she answer the question as there is no need to limit tourist arrivals, and the issue is will be solved with the plan of the Provincial Government in the proposed division of the province into three provinces.
Below is her verbatim answer during the said portion in the pageant. “For me, we should not limit the tourists here in Palawan, that’s why our province conduct the 3-in-1 Palawan so that we can focus on delivering basic needs and goods especially in the area that is less prioritize before, because the geopolitical situation of our province is not as complex as dividing it into 3-in-1 could cause anarchy or inequality, or more inefficient, for me Palawan is the largest in our country, that is the main reason why we need it to manage efficiently, as a human and people of my City and community, I know to myself that I am passionate and productive enough to do what my duties can be. And for me human knows the far-reaching impacts that humans are having on our environment, as a human race we have the solutions and the resources that we need right now to move forward to a transition for a better place for everyone.”
Following Linda is 16-year-old Phoebe De Luna from San Vicente is this year’s Miss Palawan North, while Miss Palawan South is bagged by a Political Science student from Palawan State University, Jamaica Venturillo that represented Cagayancillo.
