The Palawan Tourism Council will be holding a two day virtual summit this December intended for tour operators, travel agency and tour guides in the province of Palawan who are heavily affected by the pandemic.
PTC President Rix Rafols said that its time to put the spotlight for travel and tour operators, especially the tour guides whom majority lost their jobs since lockdown early March of this year, they aim to empower them and equipped them with learnings about new discovery in handling tour operations in the new normal.
“This virtual tourism summit for Palawan, this will focus on resiliency, will focus on sustainability, of course will focus on the new normal. What we are trying to do here is ipapakita natin ‘yung mga best practices ng mga munisipyo. Ipapakita rin natin ‘yung iba’t ibang TRE’s (Tourism Related Establishment) na open na para mabisita ng mga kababayan natin and we are focusing on travel agencies and tour guides sa tourism na ito,” Rafols said.
The summit is free for all Palaweños according to Rafols, they already submitted the proposal to the Provincial Tourism Office and awaiting approval from Governor Jose Ch Alvarez. The target schedule is on December 15. A reputable owner of travel agency, a known national tour guide and some tourism industry leaders will give lectures and talks in the said summit.
“Marami na kasi tayong zoom meeting tungkol sa restaurants, hotels, puro tungkol sa van pero wala masyado focus sa ating mga travel agencies at tour guides, this tourism summit will have a focus on them,” Rafols said in closing.
