He added that his administration intends to achieve more by improving basic services to his constituents and by pushing for his priority infrastructure projects in the different barangays.

Included top 10 cities in CMCI were Quezon City, Pasay, Manila, Iloilo, Muntinlupa, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Makati, Pasig, and Valenzuela.

While cities with most improved rankings this year were Cebu, Butuan, Iligan, Tacloban, Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, Lucena, Lapu-Lapu, Pasig and Olongapo.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said that Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Rankings are based on the sum of their scores on five pillars namely economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resiliency and innovation. Improving productivity allows firms, cities, municipalities and countries to improve their standards of living and thereby give prosperity to its citizens.

Puerto Princesa, Palawan’s capital and its only city, was declared as HUC in 2007.
