She is gold: Anne Remojo Apas

She is beautiful, she is fierce. She takes courage in dreaming new dreams. She is gold. She is Anne Remojo Apas.

Palawan Daily News caught up with 2019 Miss Tourism Beauty of the World First Princess Anne Remojo Apas. In a virtual coffee conversation, she shared how to stay feeling beautiful during a global crisis, learned how to paint and carpentry and looked at life beyond pageantry.

Lockdown beauty

Like many of us, Anne’s major plans have been cancelled due to the global pandemic. “The transition was really hard, from being super hectic (ang schedule) to doing nothing because of the quarantine. Last October 2019 after winning the title, I had a lot of projects and opportunities in line.  I was scheduled na to go to Cambodia last January for work abroad but flights were cancelled. Next option was to work with an airline company, scheduled training na sana ako for March na hindi rin talaga natuloy.”

In spite of this, Anne focused on maintaining a positive mindset and learning new skills while observing social distancing protocol. She never expected she will have the chance to learn carpentry and even picked up on painting when she felt like she was not creative or “artsy” enough. “Our mind is our battlefield. No matter how much skincare you use to achieve beauty, what is really on the inside will be reflected on the outside. We should feed our minds: nag-jojournal na ako ng madalas which before di ko ginagawa, watch positive movies and attend virtual services and read the Bible which really helped me throughout this season.”

The stunner who admits that she’s a big eater of “rice” makes sure that she includes joining virtual workout sessions to keep herself healthy and fit.

“Casa Siraya”

Anne partnered up with fellow Palaweña & Bb Puerto Princesa 2019 candidate Jessarie Dumaguing to start their passion project in Port Barton. An art café promoting locally-made handicrafts and curated art – Casa Siraya PH aims to showcase the artistic culture of Palawan. “Noong dumating ang pandemic, gusto namin mag give back sa community – passion gawing business. Ang mga katutubo katulad ng mga Batak, Tagbanua gumagawa ng mga bayong and most of other products.  The hardwood carved by the Palaw-an from Quezon were made by 6 to 11-year-olds who are very talented. We then have students of Palawan National High School who does the painting. Tinutulungan namin sila kumita. This is not just about business but helping the local community.”

Beauty Rest?

Anne has gone a long way since joining her first Little Miss Barangay at the age of 3. When asked about her plans to represent the Philippines in bigger pageants like Miss Earth and Miss Universe – Anne is looking at taking a break. “I started in 2008 when I was 12 years old when I got into modelling and pageants. Kung ilan ang edad ko ngayon (24 years old) ganon na din kadami ang pageants na nasalihan ko! Ngayon I think it’s time to pursue ‘adulting’ goals, I’m not getting any younger and I’d want to explore other sides and try a career in the corporate world. Pero kung ano ang plan ni Lord, I will do it. But for now I want to focus on my new career first. Plus the age limit for pageants has been extended to 28.”

Golden

Anne attributes to pageantry everything that she became as a person. A true beauty, she wears a crown “na hindi lang para sa maganda at matalino – but para sa pinaka preparado ang puso to serve and to give back”. No wonder she still stays as the ambassadress of Hollywood Fashion Merchandise (HFM) a Palawan-based boutique selling quality shoes, dresses, accessories and bags from the USA trusted since 2010. Anne represents HFM’s newest line – the “Fine Collection” that offers a selection of authentic jewelry and high-end watches. Hollywood Fashion Merchandise believes that owning precious metals in any form is a worthy investment. Because the queen in you deserves that sparkle of diamond & gold at the most affordable price.
