Tarabidan sa Dang Maria is returning this November for a three-day market event starting November 6, 2020. Tarabidan, which in Cuyonon means “gathering,” is a local gathering of farmers and small businesses in the City and the rest of the Palawan province that aims to encourage locals to support local brands.
The three-day event that will open from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM is so far the biggest Tarabidan market, showcasing 109 shops and brands from gardening to foods, arts and crafts. The event will take place in Dang Maria at Brgy. Bancao-Bancao, Puerto Princesa City.
“[We have] more foods; we have Jalal foods. [We are also] more on garden shows [this time]; mas maraming garden ang sumali ngayon. Same as last time, mas pinalaki lang [ang event] in terms of merchants and improved ang mga activities. [We also have] more shops–almost a hundred plus. More on handicrafts [din], tapos may mga woven materials [at] furniture na rattan because we want to promote them,” Tarabidan Organizer and Dang Maria Resto and Hotel Manager Don Bognosan said.
With the public health concern, Bognosan said that they are strictly following all guided protocols sanctioned to them by the City Incident Management Team. Like the previous staging last September, they will require all guests to wear face masks, face shields and observe social distancing.
“We are strictly coordinated with the guidelines ng IMT. They will be providing the COVID Marshalls. On process na ‘yong printing ng mga signage, ‘yong mga wash area, there will be cheap masks and face shields para sa compliance ng mga papasok, [and] at the same time, social distancing [will be implemented]. Ang set up natin ngayon will be strictly guided ng IMT,” Bognosan added.
A series of activities are already lined up in the three-day event with live performances. A gallery for visual art is also set up to cater for the art aficionados.
Among the local artists and performers that confirmed their gig are the Palawan Provincial Capitol Band, DJ Leon, and the band of Councilor Patrick Hagedorn. Community page members of Puerto Retro are also culminating their usual dance show-off.
The three-day market event is free to the public. This time, the organizers are securing a wide parking lot and putting up tents and umbrellas to gear up for the changing weather.
This is the seventh Tarabidan happening in Puerto Princesa since they launched the first event last August 2019.
