The biodiversity fun run dubbed as “Subarun” Takbo Para sa Kalikasan in celebration of Subaraw Festival urges the residents of Puerto Princesa City to partake in environmental preservation and protection of the habitat of the rich biodiversity of life and animals that are threatened by extinction through single-use plastic waste pollution and marine debris.
The City Government of Puerto Princesa, PPUR Festival Foundation, Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park Office, and JCI Puerto Princesa Oil, in partnership with NCCC Mall Palawan, Robinsons Place Palawan, SM City Puerto Princesa and supported by SK Federation of Puerto Princesa City, City Youth Development Office, and Tatak ni Tatang Printing Services spearheaded “Subarun” fun run for biodiversity on November 6, 2019, 4 AM with starting point at Robinson’s Place Palawan for redshirt runners, SM City Puerto Princesa for blue shirt runners, NCCC Mall Palawan for yellow shirt runners, with the finish line at City Baywalk.
All interested runners can register until November 5 during mall hours at the designated venues: Ground Level of Robinson’s Place Palawan, Upper Ground Level in front of Max’s, SM City Puerto Princesa and Ground Level NCCC Mall Palawan.
To register, interested participants must bring 1 (1.5 liter) plastic bottle stuffed with single-use plastic waste to be used as eco-bricks then fill out the registration form to claim the stub. One eco-bricks is equivalent to one stub and free shirt to be distributed onsite.
JCI Puerto Princesa Oil Project Chair Karl Dylan Aquino said: “We are inviting everyone to join Subarun and be in a hurry to register now.”
He added, “All eco-bricks collected will be used for the construction of the Public School Comfort Room project as part of the green initiatives of the JCI Philippines Think Green environmental national program.”
