An international webinar entitled “Impact of COVID-19 on oil and gas industry” will be held this coming August 21, Friday, from 3 – 5 in the afternoon (+8 GMT), and interested participants can now register online for free.

Engr. Ernz P. Cabanting, the lead convener of the event and the HSSEQ / Training Officer of Petrosphere Incorporated, said that this event is made possible through the cooperation of Petrosphere, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Palawan State University and Universitas Pertamina.

“We are inviting everyone to join this free webinar, especially our petroleum engineering students, the faculty and staff, and of course, the oil and gas professionals, including those who are interested to know about the industry,” Cabanting said.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has greatly impacted all industries including the oil and gas. This free webinar will equip participants to be knowledgeable on how to cope and be self-sustainable while experiencing this pandemic and to prepare for future opportunities in the oil and gas industry.

There will be three topics to be discussed in the webinar: “Impact of COVID-19: Leading in Oil and Gas Uncertainties” by Prof. Dr. Budi W. Soetjipto from the Universitas Pertamina, Indonesia, “Digitalization in O&G as a new normal” by Prof. Ir. Dr. Shahir Liew from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, and “Impact of COVID-19 on Global Workers in the Oil and Gas Industry” by Engr. Harthwell Capistrano, Petrosphere Incorporated, Qatar.

Aside from these resource speakers, there will be three reactors namely, Mr. Zaimizi Hamdani, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, Engr. Jerico M. Padrones, Palawan State University, Philippines and Dr. Wahyu Agung from Universitas Pertamina in Indonesia.

According to the information sheet of the webinar, the objectives of the webinar are to identify skills and competencies that will enable participants to be well prepared for the future opportunities in the oil and gas industry, determine the impact of COVID-19 in the oil and gas sector and how to be resilient during this pandemic, and identify precautionary measures to remain safe and healthy amidst COVID-19 pandemic.

The event is supported by the Batangas State University, Adamson University and Oil and Gas companies.
