LGU-Roxas partners with local phatmacies to assist indigent patients

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Roxas announced that guarantee letters that they issue to indigent patients can be used in selected pharmacies within their town.

The Office of the Municipal Mayor said that this came after Mayor Pedy Sabando talked with several drugstore owners in the municipality.

“Sa natapos na pag-uusap ni Mayor Pedy B. Sabando at nang Bayview Doctors Multi- specialty Clinic and Laboratory na representative Zita Labor , at OLYM Drugstore representative Jovi Eulalio, pumapayag na ang mga nasabing botika sa kagustuhan ng Alkalde na Guarantee letter lamang ay maaari nang makakuha ng gamot ang mga mayroong pasyente,” LGU-Roxas said in a statement.

Guarantee letters play a crucial role in pharmacies by enabling individuals in crisis to access necessary medications. These letters guarantee payment to pharmacies for the medicines provided to the letter’s bearer, a mechanism that helps financially constrained individuals afford vital medications that they might otherwise be unable to purchase without intervention from the LGU.

“Ang Guarantee Letter ay isang dokumento na ibinibigay ng ahensya para sa mga benepisyaryo na nangangailangan ng tulong medikal, Ang GL ay naka-address sa mga service provider ng ahensya at ginagamit bilang garantiya sa serbisyo kabilang na ang gamot na kailangan,” the LGU explained.

OLYM drugstore expressed support to Mayor Sabando’s initiatives. “Kung matutuloy man ay nakasuporta kami sa hangarin ng ating mayor para sa mga nangangailangan,” said Jovi Eulalio, OLYM Drugstore representative.

Mayor Sabando explained that he wanted the municipal funds to circulate within their town which is vital for their economic stability and growth. When money stays within the locality, it creates a multiplier effect, boosting local businesses, generating revenue for public services, and improving overall community well-being.

“Gusto ko ay iikot lamang sa mga Lokal na botika sa Roxas ang pera ng Munisipyo,” the mayor said.
