Officials from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Regional Office in MIMAROPA, led by Acting Regional Director Engr. Ronilio Cervantes, paid a visit to the Provincial Government of Palawan on October 12.

The primary purpose of this visit was to conduct a benchmarking activity in Palawan focused on the implementation of various Gender Responsive Development programs, including the Community-Based Gender and Development (CBGAD) Program.

Governor V. Dennis M. Socrates emphasized the importance of understanding the programs of other government institutions to craft effective policies.
He stressed that this benchmarking event offered a valuable opportunity for NIA to gain insights into successful Gender and Development initiatives that they could potentially adopt and implement.

“As Gender and Development advocates, it is imperative that we familiarize ourselves with the programs of other government institutions in order to formulate relevant policies effectively. This benchmarking event provides an ideal platform for us to gain insight into actual and successful Gender and Development programs and activities that the NIA can consider adopting and implementing,” Governor Socrates said.

During their visit, the NIA-MIMAROPA team also explored the Lualhati Women Center of Palawan (LCWP), a facility recognized by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) as one of the Gender and Development Local Learning Hubs in the Philippines.
